Gods Bound by Rules is a song composed for NieR Gestalt & Replicant, a video game produced by Yoko Taro.
NieR Replicant & Gestalt is an action RPG developped by Cavia. It was released in April, 22nd, 2010 on PS3 and XBox 360. The game have a minor difference between the Japanese and Western versions.
In the Japanese version called NieR Replicant, the player plays a teenager and he's the brother of a girl named Yonah. While in the Western version, NieR Gestalt, we play a old man who is the father. Both must thus save their loved one by finding a cure for her illness. Their World isn't safe and both have to face creatures called "Shadows". I never played it and I'm happy that a remastered version was announced for PS4, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139. (^^p)
So you might be wondering what the link between this game and my post. None ! Just you share my interests and some references I use to create my webmanga. XD
Contrary to what we may think and despite the omnipotence of deities or high demons, they are Bound by Rules too. By who ? By what ? Who knows ? We can be certain. More an entity is powerful, more the conditions for summoning and using its powers are important. Often, it requires to pay a "price" to respect a balance. Especially in a story.
I don't believe in a fiction that involves demons and fallen entities, all trade must be settled with the surrender of a soul or the death of a character. Even if I use this cliché, I hope I will succeed in using it in a different way. Although all Souls have a value. But like a currency, they aren't the same.
